CNGBS "Nuclear-Intelligence Integration" Technology Symposium Successfully Held in Shanghai

On February 17, 2025, the "Nuclear-Intelligence Integration, Equipping the Future" technology symposium, hosted by the Shanghai CNGBS Artificial Intelligence Industry Research Institute and the Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Technology Association, was grandly held. As the first major event since the institute's establishment, the symposium attracted expert representatives from government departments, industry associations, research institutions, universities, and enterprises to gather and explore innovative paths and development prospects for the deep integration of artificial intelligence and the nuclear industry.

At 9:00 a.m., the symposium commenced with opening speeches by Zhao Guangjun, Director of the Comprehensive Department of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, and Lou Wei, President of the Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Technology Association. In his speech, President Lou Wei emphasized that the deep integration of artificial intelligence and the nuclear industry is not only an inevitable trend in technological innovation but also a critical path to ensuring nuclear energy safety and enhancing equipment operation and maintenance. He proposed three key initiatives: first, persist in breakthroughs in core technologies, focusing on innovation in areas such as nuclear energy safety and predictive maintenance of equipment; second, deepen collaboration among industry, academia, research, and application to build an open and win-win industrial ecosystem; third, strictly adhere to safety and ethical bottom lines to ensure the reliability and sustainable development of technology applications. Director Zhao Guangjun, from the perspective of policy and industrial synergy, called on all parties to jointly promote the integrated development of Shanghai's artificial intelligence and high-end equipment manufacturing industrial clusters.


Subsequently, the "AI + Nuclear Energy Industry Innovation Center" of the Shanghai CNGBS Artificial Intelligence Industry Research Institute was officially inaugurated, marking a significant step for the institute in the field of nuclear energy intelligence.

Cutting-Edge Reports Outline New Prospects for Technology Application

The symposium featured special reports by top experts in the nuclear industry and artificial intelligence fields, moderated by She Ding, Secretary-General of the Research Reactor and New Reactor Branch of the Chinese Nuclear Society.

Zhu Xingli, Researcher at the Nuclear Power Operation Research Institute of China National Nuclear Corporation, delivered a report titled "Research and Application of Special Robots in the Nuclear Industry," sharing technological breakthroughs in autonomous inspection and emergency response of robots in high-risk nuclear facility environments.

Huang Xiangming, Senior Engineer at the Shanghai Nuclear Engineering Research and Design Institute, focused on "Development Needs for Nuclear Power Plant Robots and the Development of Underwater Maintenance Robots," highlighting the critical role of intelligent underwater equipment in improving the operational efficiency of nuclear power plants.

Lu Zhiyong, Senior Engineer at China Nuclear Operation Technology Co., Ltd., presented on "Integrated Innovation of Digital Power Plants and Intelligent Equipment," showcasing practical achievements in the application of digital twin and intelligent diagnostic technologies throughout the lifecycle management of nuclear power plants.

Zhang Haibin, Tenured Professor at the Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Smart Energy, discussed how artificial intelligence can accelerate the simulation design and performance optimization of new nuclear energy materials from the perspective of materials research and development.


Industry-Academia-Research Collaboration to Build an Open and Cooperative Ecosystem

During the free interaction session, moderated by Zhou Qin, Researcher at the Institute of Nuclear and New Energy Technology of Tsinghua University, experts engaged in lively discussions on "Challenges and Opportunities in the Intelligent Transformation of the Nuclear Industry." Topics covered core issues such as data security sharing mechanisms, cross-disciplinary talent cultivation, and technical standard formulation. The exchange of diverse viewpoints provided multi-dimensional solutions for industry pain points.

In his closing remarks, Shen Xiaopeng, President of the Shanghai CNGBS Artificial Intelligence Industry Research Institute, stated that the institute would take this symposium as an opportunity to continue deepening industry-research cooperation in the "AI + Nuclear Energy" field and promote the efficient transformation of technological achievements into industrial applications.
